The Story of YulaBaskı
Marvellous 5th floor in Istanbul's one of hippest neighbourhoods was a painting studio already. The story started with moving antique printing machines to the 5th floor. YulaBaskı was born in Moda.
In the following period, letterpress studio continued experimentally with the supports of friends. Someone who had his apprenticeship with such a machine, became the first instructor of YulaBaskı coincidentally. Even with perfect tutoring, it was not easy for the antique machine to meet someone who was enthusiastic about the technique but had no experience in it.
In the meantime, search for a real studio had begun. However, before moving to the studio, first major order came from Australia. This was very exciting. In a living room/studio, all paperwork for a wedding were piling up, dazzlingly.
YulaBaskı continued its journey as a complete studio in its spacious place with a garden in a neighbouring city. There, one more antique printing machine was added to the production. This cute monster also allowed big hand-made prints, made it easier to press-print of pictures. After all, the studio was also a painting studio. Excitement was in the air! First poster works... and then the orders of linoleum bag prints… On the one hand, experimental works continued to find out whether there would be interest or not...
And one day "The Countess" came to the studio. A beauty over 100 years old that came out of a church's forgotten cellar in the heart of Anatolia. Ahh what a sight! First machine seemed tiny next to The Countess. So it had a name that day after many years, Tiny.
Thus, one era had ended at YulaBaskı and another began. Let's make the beautiful prints of the new era together!
